Christmas Feelings

Christmas time is something special
Something that just warms your soul.
Something that fills you with peace
And always surrounds you with joy.
Sounds of Christmas, oh how joyous
Hear them everywhere you go.
Silver bells, their pretty ringing
Christmas songs, their wondrous sounds.
Friends surround you, laughing, smiling
Rejoice in their beaming joy
The feeling you get when giving
Is the brightest in the soul.
May we feel the joy of Christmas
May we laugh and love more now
Sing the praises to the highest
Happy Birthday, to my Lord.

Gloom

This poem was written during a day when I just couldn't become happy. Everything I tried just wouldn't work. So I tried writing. This is the poem I got. For a small tribute, thanks to Paige, Ty, and Rachel, the three friends that are mentioned in the poem.

Gloom
That's the dark shroud that covers me
The darkness the seems to hang over me
And fill that emptiness in my heart.

I see the worry in a friend's eyes.
She wonders if I'm okay.
I hear the joke in my friend's voice
As he tries to cheer me up.
And I laugh, and smile,
but the gloom returns quickly.

Maybe all I need is a hug
And a friend is right there to give me one.
She makes me feel better
And for a while, I am happy.
But a sarcastic comment drops me again.

But really, what reason do I have
To feel down, to feel sad?
I have friends
And they care about me.
They want my happiness
The same way I want theirs.

Within the dark gloom
There is a pinprick of light.
And while It isn't enough to shake the blackness
It is enough
To make me feel
A little better.

My Master's Soldier

My Master’s Soldier
Jarom Norris

Bang! Crash! Roar!
The Dragon was upon us.
He was at the gate. His fury was a black fire pouring from his mouth, and his army was behind him.
And where was I?
I was standing before the chosen one,
of whom the Master said
“I will send the first.”
He calls out to all of us
“Who will fight on the front lines, and be my soldiers?”
And I cried out “I will!”
Little did I know that my calling as a soldier would go beyond fighting the dragon.

I am one of the Master’s Elite
and I have been saved until the war was hardest.
The adversaries’ arrows and darts are sharper now, and his puppets are everywhere.
But his darts cannot harm me, because I am wearing the armor that the Master made for me, and I will never take it off.
I am a Knight in Shining Armor
And I am a Guardsman.
But what am I guarding?
I am guarding the light that I hold.
The Light I need to cut through the darkness.
I am guarding sacred things
that the enemy tries to squander.
I am guarding my sisters around me,
for while I carry the Master’s sword
they carry His blazing fire.
I am guarding my wounded brethren
who have been hit by burning arrows
and tending to them, so they can fight once more.

But my calling isn’t only to defend,
But to fight back.
I hold the Sword of Faith in my hand,
and it is strong and sharp.
I will fight in memory of
My God, my Religion, and Freedom, and my Peace, my wife, and my children.
I see a spirit of the enemy watching me, he is in my every evil I see, enticing me, trying to draw me into a trap.
Why does he try to pull me down?
Because I cut him down in the Battle of Heaven.
But let him know this: I am not afraid to do it again.

I follow the banner of the chosen one.
His banner is purity, virtue, loyalty, wisdom, faith, love, charity, diligence, knowledge, agency, patience, hope, divine nature, respect, humility, kindness, integrity, balance.
His banner is godliness.

My light can be spread to others.
I can find those who are lost in the darkness because they don’t have the light, or those who are bleeding from fiery darts, and lead them, and heal them.
I will use my fire to forge them their own sword of faith, and then we can be allies in this fight.

I am a warrior, a guardsman, a knight, a teacher, a rescuer, a soldier.
But most of all, I am a servant.
I am here to fight for the Master.
He is the source of my light, the fuel of my fire, and the creator of my armor.
My heart is his.
And one day, I will bow before him, and he will say
“Rise,
You are victorious.”

Sound Poem

Thick Night
A poem written to the song Sdrawkcab, by Jeremiah Peña

The bell tolls
The night is upon the town
And few souls still hustle around
Twilight’s magic has faded
But midnights magic has just begun.

What life could exist in the dark?
What light could dwell in the shadows?
The night is a dark and loathsome place
But for some, darkness is peace.

The swirling mists of dark
So deep, so knowing
Dark is deep inside
Hidden from the light, the shadows grow.

New opportunities swirl with the curtains of shadow
New power lies within the thick blackness
New strength in the invisible darkness.

Stars gleam
Such a glorious and beautiful sight they are!
So majestic, so full of energy and power
Sparkling in the sky like the treasures of a goddess.

The bell tolls.
Twilight’s magic has faded.
But midnight’s has just begun.

Glorious Sunrise

Sunrise
The warm rays of the sun stretch across the land
And light upon every
Field
Hut
Home
Manor
And Castle

Glorious light
Accents the tall, majestic spires
And the tiny, delicate blades
Of the grasses

Warm Light
Seeps through the cold darkness
Cuts through the thick shadow
Like a powerful sword
And warms the heart with it’s touch

Strong light
Brings new light into the land
The love of a new day into the air
And reawakens strength.

Bright Light
Warm Light
Life Light
Glorious Light

Water

(The title doesn't seem to fit that will for some reason. Any help on that?)

Still Water swirls around me
Everywhere, and yet not felt
Nothing but another domain
Another Element
It isn't a foreign thing
Just thick air
But it makes me stronger
I can jump higher
And dance all the more spectacular.
The water is like an extent of me
Because I offered it my body
And when it took it,
I captured it with my soul

Lingering Joy Midst Despair

(Title is not official)

Walking through the hall
a book clutched tight against my chest
like a shield from sorrow.
Eyes on the ground, walking quickly
as if not wanting to slow down and think
because I'm aftaid of my own thoughts.
Caught in the dreary state between dream and despair
A mixture of
Frustration
Thoughtfulness
Tiredness
And lack of confidence
Bottled up in my heart.
But there is something else.
Lying on my bed, I let my despair melt
Like cold snow.
But it leaves behind one last emotion
The special feeling of joy
That lingered
When she looked into my eyes
And gave me her smile.

Nighttime

The rain falls hard against the ground
And night falls even harder.
Darkness seeps into the air
Into the houses
Into the sky
Into the soul.
The rain is the only sound
Besides the deafening sound of silence.
Maybe somewhere
There is a smile
THat could light up the sky
If anyone could see it.
Maybe somewhere
There is a laugh
That oculd soften the silence
If it wasn't shattering it.

In America

This is the Poem I wrote for History Class about Rights and Responsibilities.

America
Land of the Free
Land of Liberty
Of Thee we sing
Sing to America

Our Fathers Died
For our Freedom
For our Happiness
And for the rights we have
In America

We talk how we wish
Write what we wish
Meet how we wish.
And preach how we wish
In America

Our fathers wanted us
To be safe from harm
To keep our life,
Our liberty and our happiness
In America

We are given our land
And a house to be a home
Where the government cannot
Take away your privacy
In America

They thought of those convicted
Might they be innocent?
Might they be unjustly accused?
So they gave them rights too
In America

Our Fathers Decided
Their children should learn
So that they could become
The changers of the world
In America

We are given the right
To learn what we want
To choose our own leaders
And this is a responsibility
In America

But Freedom isn’t free
You have to fight for it
You have to earn it
You have to prove yourself
In America

So we have responsibilities.
We must follow the law
For without law there is but Chaos
And then no one is free
In America

We must pay the government back
They pay for our roads,
Our schools, our libraries,
Why shouldn’t we give some back
To America?

We often complain
We accuse Uncle Sam
Of being a greedy man
But have you seen what he’s done
For America?

By accusing our leaders,
Who work for liberty
Are we saying we would all
Rather be slave than free
In America?

So let us all press forward
And not let out a groan
But let us work to help
The freedom bell toll
Through America.

Haikus

The stars are twinkling
like small diamonds in the sky,
Oh how they sparkle.

The frog leaps into
his watery home, and makes
a small, quiet splash.

The day's time is up,
the twilight's magic begins
preparing for night

//This has nothing to do with the book Twilight. I've always thought that the twilight was a time of strong magic. Even before The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess came out.

Water suspended
in the air around us all
a frozen moment.

A single seedling,
a tiny plant, will soon be
a mighty Redwood.

The songbird's sweet song
drifts through the air, til it comes
to rest on our ears.

The grace of the birds,
their swoops and turns, can inspire
even all the best.

Notice how a smile
spreads and spreads until it lies
on every face.
